Description

What it is

Ganoderma lucidum fruiting body extract, grown in Wales.

Hot water and vegetable glycerin produce a dark brown extract that is earthy and slightly bitter, with a little sweetness from the glycerin.

Like a forest floor, in a good way.

What is in it

  • Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) fruiting body extract
  • Vegetable glycerin
  • Water

Three ingredients.

How much mushroom is in it

1:4 dry mushroom to finished liquid.

One gram of dried Reishi is represented in 4ml of finished liquid, so a 50ml bottle represents 12.5g of dried Reishi fruiting body.

A ratio tells you how much dried starting mushroom went into the finished liquid. It is not a potency score and it does not tell you the concentration of individual compounds.

How to use

Add it to water, juice, coffee or tea, or take it straight if you prefer.

Use as directed on the label.

Why glycerin?

This one is alcohol-free.

Hot water extracts the water-soluble fraction. Vegetable glycerin provides the liquid base and a little sweetness.

Alcohol would favour more of some less water-soluble compounds, including triterpenes, so this is a glycerin extract rather than a dual extract.

Where it comes from

Grown and extracted in Wales.

Traceable from spore to bottle.

Questions

Is this suitable for vegans?

Yes. The ingredients are suitable for vegans.

Can I take it with medication?

We are not medically qualified to advise on interactions. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or have a medical condition, speak to a healthcare professional before using supplements.

What does it taste like?

Earthy. Slightly bitter. Faintly sweet from the glycerin. Like a forest floor, in a good way.

Is this the same as a tincture?

Not quite. A tincture normally uses alcohol. This uses hot water and vegetable glycerin, so it is a glycerin extract.
