Description
What it is
Grym Drops is a reishi glycerin extract. We take whole reishi fruiting bodies, grown in Wales by The Fungi Folks, and extract them using hot water and vegetable glycerin.
No alcohol. No maltodextrin. No anti-caking agents. Three ingredients: water, glycerin, reishi.
The result is a dark brown liquid that tastes earthy and slightly bitter. That is what a proper reishi extract tastes like. If it is sweet or pale, something has been added.
What is in it
- Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) fruiting body glycerin extract
- Vegetable glycerin
- Water
That is it.
How to use
Add to water, juice, coffee or tea. Hold under the tongue for faster absorption if preferred. Start with a small amount and adjust to suit you.
Why glycerin?
Most mushroom drops use alcohol as the extraction solvent. Glycerin does the same job without the alcohol, making it suitable for anyone who avoids it, including those on medication, pregnant, or simply preferring not to consume alcohol daily.
It also makes the extract slightly sweeter in base, which balances the natural bitterness of reishi.
Why The Fungi Folks?
Ben Gibson and his team in Chepstow, Wales grow, harvest, extract and bottle every batch. Full traceability from spore to bottle. More about our grower.
We iodine tested extracts from the three leading UK mushroom brands. Every one of them showed starch, a sign of hidden fillers. Ours did not.
HACCP · Made in Wales
Ours are dark brown. Europe’s leading brand is pale yellow. Colour reflects concentration. Draw your own conclusions.
Questions
Is this suitable for vegans?
Yes. Glycerin is plant derived. All ingredients are vegan.
Can I take it with medication?
We are not medically qualified to advise on interactions. If you are on medication, check with your GP first.
How long will one bottle last?
Depends on how much you use. At a standard daily amount, 50ml lasts approximately 3 to 4 weeks.
What does it taste like?
Earthy. Slightly bitter. Faintly sweet from the glycerin. Like a forest floor, in a good way.
Is this the same as a tincture?
Similar process, no alcohol. A tincture typically uses alcohol as the solvent. Grym Drops uses glycerin instead.
